Mercedes Unveils Its New Car for the 2025 Formula 1 Season

On Monday, Mercedes unveiled its new car for the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship, ahead of its debut on the track during the pre-season tests, which will be hosted in Bahrain this week.
In a statement, Mercedes explained: “The W16 car is based on the lessons learned from its predecessor, with significant changes made ahead of the final season under this set of regulations.”
The car’s design, which was revealed last week during the launch event for the new cars of the 2025 Formula 1 season in London, is very similar to the 2024 version of the Mercedes car, featuring a combination of silver, black, and teal colors.
Toto Wolff, Mercedes team principal, said: “We are opening a new era in our team’s and Mercedes AMG’s motorsport story in 2025, building on our amazing legacy, and we look forward to the start of racing.”
This will be the first time since 2013 that Mercedes competes in Formula 1 without seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who has moved to Ferrari.
George Russell enters his fourth season with Mercedes and will team up with Kimi Antonelli.
Russell said, “As a team, we are incredibly excited to develop compared to last season. There’s tremendous energy at the factories in Brackley and Brixworth, so I’m excited to get on the track.”
Antonelli expressed, “I’m extremely excited to make my Formula 1 debut this season. I’ve been working hard throughout the winter to prepare in the best way possible, and now I can’t wait to get started.”
The Bahrain tests begin next Wednesday and will continue through Friday, with the season opener on March 16 in Australia.
