Taliban Authorities Announce Detention of Two Britons and an American-Chinese Citizen

The spokesman for Afghanistan’s Ministry of Interior, Abdul Mateen Qani, confirmed on Monday to Agence France-Presse (AFP) that Taliban authorities are holding two British nationals and an American-Chinese dual citizen.

His statement came shortly after a British woman publicly urged her government to do “everything possible” to secure the release of her parents, Peter and Barbie Reynolds, who had been running training programs in Afghanistan since 2009. Qani added that “efforts are underway to resolve the case.”
