Demand for Reviewing Commercial License Fees in Al-Qadarif

Sudan Events – Reports
The Chamber of Commerce in Al-Qadarif State has called on the executive body to reduce what it described as exorbitant fees imposed on commercial licenses under the 2025 budget of the Al-Qadarif State government.
The Chairman of the Economic Services Committee and a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Al-Tayeb Ibrahim, told Al-Ahdath that they have held multiple discussions with the governor of Al-Qadarif, but no results have been reached so far.
He emphasized the need to schedule the fees based on budget implementation profits if reducing them is not feasible. He warned that failing to do so would harm citizens, who ultimately bear the cost through rising commodity prices.
He also stressed the importance of the municipality and the state of Al-Qadarif considering the circumstances of citizens and displaced persons by reviewing the imposed fees, especially with the approach of Ramadan.
Furthermore, he urged the Al-Qadarif Municipality to conduct future studies before launching market projects. He added:
“One of the issues is that the municipality announced the establishment of small kiosks (Tabali) on Hospital Street, which was met with widespread rejection.”
He called for consulting the Ministry of Health on such projects, suggesting that they could be utilized for healthcare and medical services instead of kiosks.
