The Darfur Diaspora Association in the United Kingdom strongly condemned attempts by some members of the Sudan and South Sudan Parliamentary Group in the House of Commons to hold a meeting with leaders of the Rapid Support Militia (RSF), who are involved in committing war crimes and crimes against humanity, including genocide against displaced people in the Zamzam camp.
The Sudanese news site Asda’a Sudanese reported a post on Facebook by the head of the Darfur Diaspora Association, Abdullah Abu Qarda, who said: “In an inflammatory step against the victims of the genocide in Darfur, some individuals or groups within the British Parliament invited the Janjaweed militias, disrupting parliamentary regulations, allowing them to be present inside and to photograph and make statements, in clear violation of rules and laws.”
He added, “The advisor to the Commander-in-Chief of the Rapid Support Militia, Imran Abdullah, made statements from inside the Parliament,” confirming the council’s recognition of their government.
Abu Qarda called on Parliament to investigate the matter, especially as the Rapid Support Militia has committed atrocities, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, which the British government acknowledged during a meeting with the Minister of Africa last month.
