High-Level Meeting Discusses Placing Teachers at the Top of the Salary Scale

The Vice-President of the Sovereign Council, Malik Agar, met with the Minister of Labor and Administrative Reform, Ahmed Ali Abdulrahman, at his office on Thursday.
During the meeting, he was briefed on the final arrangements for the Civil Service Conference, which was directed by the Chairman of the Sovereign Council to address civil service issues in Sudan. He emphasized the importance of holding the conference as soon as possible.
The meeting also addressed the employment and financial conditions of state employees and the coordination between the Council of Ministers and the relevant ministries to implement the decisions and recommendations of the Civil Service Bureau, which involve granting workers a meal allowance and housing support to alleviate the burden of living costs.
The meeting discussed forming a committee to look into the situation of teachers, regularize their financial conditions, and prioritize them in the salary scale, as well as implement the outcomes of the recent workshop on administrative reform.
The Minister of Labor and Administrative Reform explained that the Civil Service Conference will discuss the role of civil service in the nation’s renaissance, its role in sustainable economic development, and reconstruction efforts. He also noted that the conference will address issues such as labor laws, their relationship with the private sector, corruption within the civil service, the lack of strategic planning, and ways to achieve job satisfaction.
The minister also pointed out that the Vice-President of the Sovereign Council was briefed on some technical aspects related to the committee formed to deal with state employees working with the rebellion. He mentioned that the committee operates according to laws and regulations and does not have the authority to dismiss an employee unless their involvement in activities contrary to civil service laws is proven.
