Boko Haram Group Destroys Several Villages in Nigeria

The pace of violent terrorist attacks in Nigeria has escalated in recent days, with several simultaneous attacks recorded on Thursday. Armed members of the “Boko Haram” group also seized a number of villages this week, setting them on fire after looting all the homes.

Nigeria has been grappling with an armed insurgency since 2009, led by the “Boko Haram” group, which seeks to establish an emirate in the northern part of the oil- and natural gas-rich African country. Since 2016, the “ISIS” organization has also joined the fray, further escalating the situation in the region.

Destroyed Villages

Terrorists suspected to be affiliated with the “Boko Haram” group launched a devastating attack on the village of Kobari and neighboring villages in the Yadul district of the Hong Local Government Area in Adamawa State, in the far eastern part of the country, near the border with Cameroon.

According to information from the region, the attack began on Tuesday evening and continued until Wednesday morning, resulting in the destruction of churches, schools, homes, and businesses, in addition to looting the possessions of local residents who fled their homes in fear for their lives.

The leader of Kobari village, Joel Kolaha, and the leader of King village, Abalis Jawaja, spoke to journalists about the attack, saying that the terrorists stormed the villages with brutality, setting buildings on fire and stealing belongings.

However, Kolaha pointed out that no lives were lost during the attack, explaining that the residents, who had received prior warnings, managed to flee their homes in time. He said, “We survived with our lives, but we lost everything we had.”
