Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah

Goldsmiths and gold traders have revealed a decline in gold purchases, accompanied by an increase in sales.

Mohamed Al-Hassan, the owner of Tebidi Jewelry in Shendi, River Nile State, told Al-Ahdath that citizens are actively selling their gold to dispose of their savings in order to cover family expenses such as food, drink, medical treatment, and housing. He pointed out that sales typically involve small amounts, ranging between 2 to 3 grams.

Al-Hassan also noted a drop in gold prices, stating that the price of 21-karat gold has fallen to approximately 210,000 SDG per gram, while 24-karat gold is priced at around 220,000 SDG per gram. Meanwhile, 18-karat gold is now valued at about 166,000 SDG per gram.
