Seizure of a Large Quantity of Smuggled Gold

Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Jibril Ibrahim and the Governor of River Nile State Dr. Mohamed Al-Badawi Abdelmajid oversaw a significant seizure of smuggled gold that was thwarted by the Customs forces through the Anti-Smuggling Directorate in River Nile State.

They praised the Customs forces for this major achievement, as they foiled an attempt to smuggle 312 pieces of gold weighing approximately 142 kilograms, along with one Kalashnikov rifle.

The Acting Director-General of Customs, Major General Police Babiker Yusuf Babiker, commended the great efforts made by the Anti-Smuggling forces in combating smuggling operations and protecting the national economy. He emphasized that this seizure is part of the Customs forces’ ongoing efforts to reduce smuggling crimes in all their forms.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Director-General for Anti-Smuggling, Major General Police (Lawyer) Jamal Al-Awad Al-Amin, confirmed the high professionalism displayed by the team that carried out the operation. He stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to combat the smuggling of strategic resources and continuing preemptive strikes against smuggling networks.

For his part, the Director of the Anti-Smuggling Directorate in River Nile State, Brigadier General Police Adam Omar Sabeel, confirmed that the seizure was based on precise information and continuous monitoring of the smugglers’ movements. He pointed out that the executing force succeeded in foiling the attempt due to their high preparedness, emphasizing that long and short patrols will continue, with increased scrutiny at all entry points to reduce smuggling operations targeting the national economy.
