Dynamo to Compensate Fans with Free Ticket Due to Messi’s Absence

Houston Dynamo announced that it will offer its fans a free ticket to an upcoming home match after Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi missed their MLS game on Sunday.
Messi’s absence from matches has led to compensation for fans before. Last year, organizers of a match in Hong Kong refunded 50% of ticket prices after the Argentine star missed the game due to injury.
In August, Chicago Fire also introduced a ticket credit guarantee for individual and season ticket holders if Messi was injured and unable to play in their home match against Inter Miami.
Dynamo stated in a post on the social media platform X on Saturday: “The recently shared player status report for the match did not include forward Lionel Messi, but it has been reported that he did not make the trip to Houston. Unfortunately, we have no control over who our opponent fields.”
The club added: “Fans attending tomorrow night’s match will be eligible for a free ticket to one of Dynamo’s upcoming matches this season. Additional details will be provided early next week.”
Messi played in Inter Miami’s CONCACAF Champions Cup match against Sporting Kansas City last week, scoring the opening goal in a 3-1 victory.
The MLS has also fined the 37-year-old Argentine an undisclosed amount after he grabbed a New York City FC staff member by the neck following a 2-2 draw earlier this month.
