Review of gas cylinder weights in Kassala

Sudan Events – Follow-ups

The Measurement and Calibration Department of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Authority in Kassala State, in collaboration with the Petroleum Administration, security, and legal bodies, organized inspection campaigns to review the weights of cooking gas cylinders. This is part of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Authority’s efforts in regulatory work and a campaign towards a safe consumer during Ramadan.

The branch manager, Engineer Al-Wali Muhammad Madawi, clarified that the review campaigns for cooking gas cylinders were conducted by a fieldwork team from the authority’s measurement officers to cover gas warehouses in the state. This is to ensure consumer protection and service providers’ compliance by verifying and ensuring that the weight of each gas cylinder conforms to the set standard weight for each cylinder. He also mentioned the technical procedures followed by the authority’s measurement and calibration department to review gas cylinders, which involve checking the weight of the cylinder when empty and after filling, according to the label provided by the company on the cylinder. He extended his thanks to the state’s Petroleum Administration, Legal Department, Civil Defense, Economic Security, Supply Investigation, and Consumer Protection agencies for their efforts in implementing the authority’s programs and overcoming all obstacles to protect consumers and safeguard their rights.
