Three MPs Injured in Serbian Parliament Chaos

At least three MPs were injured on Tuesday due to chaos that erupted in the Serbian parliament, where smoke bombs and fireworks were thrown, according to the German news agency (DPA).
The MPs were set to vote on a law that would increase funding for higher education, but opposition parties insisted that the session was illegal and that Prime Minister Miloš Vučević and his government’s resignation should first be confirmed.
The incident reflects a deep political crisis within the Balkan state, where anti-corruption protests that lasted for months have shaken the populist government.
Vučević resigned in January, as the authorities faced violent protests following the collapse of a concrete canopy in northern Serbia in November, which led to the death of 15 people. Critics attributed the incident to government corruption.
It is worth noting that the parliament must confirm the resignation of the prime minister for it to take effect.
