Panama’s President: Trump “Lies Again” About the Canal

Panama’s President José Raúl Molino confirmed on Wednesday that his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, is “lying again” about the Panama Canal, as Panama has no intention of subjecting it to U.S. control.

According to the French Press Agency (AFP), Molino said on X (formerly Twitter): “Once again, President Trump is lying. We are not about to return the Panama Canal,” and the issue was not discussed in bilateral talks. This statement came after the U.S. president’s speech before Congress, in which he said, “To further enhance our national security, my administration will take back the Panama Canal, and we have already started doing so.”
