Russian Units Kill 4 ISIS Militants in Dagestan

Russian news agency TASS reported on Wednesday that anti-terrorism units killed four militants from the terrorist group ISIS in the Muslim-majority region of Dagestan.
Violence and militants in Dagestan present an increasing challenge to Russian President Vladimir Putin, with at least 20 people killed in attacks on churches and synagogues last June, and the bloody attack at Makhachkala Airport in 2023.
The National Anti-Terrorism Committee told Russian news agency TASS that the militants “were planning to carry out an attack on a regional branch of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Hand grenade launchers, explosives, hand grenades, ammunition, and machine guns were found at the scene and nearby.” TASS clarified that no injuries were reported among civilians or law enforcement officers.
