Study on Agricultural Development and Enhancing the Role of Agricultural Organizations in the State

A meeting was held, bringing together Engineer Al-Hadi Al-Sadiq, Minister of Production and Economic Resources, the Humanitarian Aid Commissioner, and the Deputy Chairman of the Mobilization and Popular Resistance Committee in Sennar State. The meeting discussed conducting a study to develop agriculture in Sennar, both in its irrigated and rain-fed sectors, as well as activating the role of organizations working in the agricultural field.
The Minister of Production praised the efforts of these organizations and their support for farmers by providing improved seeds. He also commended the role of the Humanitarian Aid Commission in advancing agriculture through partnerships.
Meanwhile, Major General (Ret.) Mohamed Al-Ajab, Deputy Chairman of the Popular Resistance in Sennar State, appreciated such initiatives that serve the community. He reaffirmed the Popular Resistance’s support for the executive body in its efforts to develop agriculture, emphasizing that agriculture is the backbone of the economy in Sennar and Sudan as a whole.
For his part, the Humanitarian Aid Commissioner in Sennar, Mohamed Abdel Fattah Badi, stated that the commission would work to direct organizations towards supporting agriculture and farmers, particularly small-scale farmers.
He added that the Rapid Support Militia had destroyed the entire agricultural infrastructure and looted all farming resources, necessitating a comprehensive study for the reconstruction of agriculture. He stressed that agriculture is the key solution for both citizens and the state to overcome the current crisis. He also appreciated the significant role of the Ministry of Production and international agricultural organizations, noting that several studies are underway for major projects that will benefit the people of the state in various service sectors.
Jaafar Ali Youssef, Secretary-General of the Farmers’ Union in Sennar State, stated that farmers had lost all the essential agricultural resources but affirmed their strong determination and efforts to restore agriculture to an even better state than before the war.
Additionally, Major General Al-Nour Abdel Rahman, Chairman of the Popular Resistance in Sinja Locality, expressed their support and backing for farmers.
