South Korean Civilians Injured After Fighter Jet Accidentally Drops 8 Bombs

The South Korean Air Force announced on Thursday that several civilians were injured when one of its fighter jets accidentally dropped eight bombs outside the designated shooting range during a training exercise.
In a statement, the Air Force said, “Eight MK-82 multi-purpose bombs were abnormally released from a KF-16 fighter jet and exploded outside the designated firing range,” expressing deep regret over the incident, which resulted in civilian casualties.
A firefighting official stated that at least eight people were injured when a shell fell on a civilian area during live-fire military drills in Pocheon, South Korea. Four of the injured were reported to be in critical condition. Pocheon is located 40 kilometers northeast of Seoul, near the heavily fortified border with North Korea.
Fire officials suspected that the fallen shell was from joint live-fire drills conducted by South Korea and the United States. The official did not provide details about the type of shell but mentioned that fire authorities suspected a fighter jet may have misfired during the training exercise.
