Afghan Man Killed in Police Operation in Eastern Germany

A 26-year-old Afghan man was shot dead by police during an operation in the town of Schönebeck, eastern Germany.

Police in Magdeburg announced on Friday that they were called to a residential building in Schönebeck after the Afghan man allegedly threatened a 26-year-old German man.

Upon arrival, the Afghan man also threatened police officers with a knife, prompting the deployment of special forces from the Saxony-Anhalt State Criminal Police Office.

A police spokesperson stated that a shot was fired at the suspect, who was then taken to the hospital, where he later died. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
