Sudan Events – Agencies

The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, delivered a comprehensive speech at the Emergency Arab Summit hosted by Cairo on Tuesday. In his address, he discussed several issues on the summit’s agenda as well as national matters, commending Egypt’s initiative in calling for the summit to support the Palestinian cause.

Sudan’s Position on the Palestinian Cause

During the summit, Al-Burhan reaffirmed Sudan’s firm and unwavering support for the Palestinian people in their pursuit of an independent state within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He also reiterated Sudan’s categorical rejection of any plans aimed at displacing the Palestinian people from their land.

He emphasized the necessity of a unified and resolute Arab stance against any attempts to uproot Palestinians from their homeland. Al-Burhan further stressed that defending the Palestinian cause is a shared responsibility that must not be abandoned, calling for enhanced collective capacity to confront common challenges.

He affirmed that Sudan will remain at the forefront of defending the Palestinian cause, steadfast in its principles and committed to safeguarding the interests of the Arab nation. Moreover, he announced Sudan’s full support for the Egyptian-Arab initiative to rebuild Gaza without displacing its residents.

Developments in Sudan

Regarding the situation in Sudan, General Al-Burhan stated that the rebels have been expelled from vast areas of the country and that the legitimate Sudanese army, backed by its people, is working to eliminate the rebels in the remaining regions.

He highlighted in his speech that the world has witnessed the destruction, terrorism, and chaos perpetrated by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which are supported by regional countries and rely on foreign mercenaries.

Al-Burhan accused the RSF of committing various violations and crimes against civilians and infrastructure, continuing what he described as a “miserable plot” to subjugate the nation under a colonial agenda dictated by its regional sponsors.

He reaffirmed the determination of the Sudanese Armed Forces, with the full support of the Sudanese people, to confront and eradicate what he termed “delusions” that will be completely defeated by the people of Sudan.

Roadmap for Sudan’s Political Crisis

Addressing Sudan’s political crisis, Al-Burhan stated that his government has proposed a roadmap for civil and constitutional transition, based on a national consensus.

He pointed out that the roadmap put forward by the Sudanese government calls for an inclusive Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue that does not exclude any party. This, he emphasized, would ensure the participation of all national factions in shaping the country’s future and pave the way for free and fair elections.

Conditions for Ceasefire

The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council reaffirmed Sudan’s readiness to implement an immediate cessation of military operations—provided that the rebel RSF withdraws from the areas it occupies, lifts the siege on El-Fasher and other cities in Darfur, and assembles in designated areas in preparation for disarmament and military resolution.

Al-Burhan concluded his speech by conveying the greetings and appreciation of the Sudanese people to the countries and governments that have consistently supported Sudan and its people. He specifically acknowledged Sudan’s Arab allies for their unwavering support for the country’s unity and legitimate national institutions, as well as the Arab League.

Finally, he expressed gratitude to all those who have stood in solidarity with Sudan against what he described as an ongoing conspiracy aimed at dividing and destroying the country.
