Food Scarcity and Price Increases in El Fasher

The El Fasher Resistance Committees Coordination revealed a significant increase in food prices, amid the ongoing blockade imposed on Darfur’s capital for nearly a year. The coordination pointed out that this price hike and the scarcity of food coincided with the displacement of thousands of families from villages in the west and south of El Fasher to the city, due to village burnings and escalating violence and forced displacement in dozens of surrounding areas.
The coordination launched an initiative aimed at providing Ramadan Iftar meals for displaced persons residing in shelter centers.
