Customs Director Orders Acceleration of Clearance Procedures at Port Sudan Airport

The Director-General of the Customs Forces, Lieutenant General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, conducted an inspection visit to the Customs Division at Port Sudan International Airport.

During the visit, he reviewed the workflow in the new inspection hall, waiting area, and storage facilities, emphasizing the importance of strengthening coordination with work partners and shipping companies to facilitate customs procedures. He stressed the need to expedite customs clearance, enhance services, enforce strict customs control, and combat smuggling. He also directed the provision of all necessary resources and the removal of obstacles to ensure smooth customs procedures and efficient movement of passengers and goods. Additionally, he pledged to complete the clearance of all accumulated cargo within a week, aiming to accelerate the clearance process and reduce waiting times.

For his part, the Acting Director of the Red Sea General Customs Administration, Brigadier Ahmed Omar Mahjoub, stated that the administration is working to provide all necessary resources to speed up customs clearance. He noted that increasing the workforce would positively impact efficiency, reducing effort and time while improving performance.

Meanwhile, the Director of Port Sudan Airport Customs, Brigadier Khalid Othman Al-Faki, highlighted that the Director-General’s visit reflects the customs leadership’s commitment to improving the work environment and monitoring performance. He stated that the directives issued during the visit would contribute to refining operations and expediting customs clearance, ultimately ensuring smoother movement at the airport.

This visit comes within the framework of the Customs Forces’ efforts to enhance performance and achieve the highest levels of efficiency in customs operations by simplifying and streamlining procedures. These efforts aim to facilitate trade movement, address congestion, and keep pace with modern developments while supporting the national economy by easing trade flow and combating smuggling.
