Khartoum Governor Calls on Savings Bank to Assist War-Affected Citizens

Khartoum Governor Ahmed Othman Hamza inaugurated today the new branch of the Savings and Social Development Bank in Omdurman, in the presence of the Director General of the Ministry of Social Development, Sadiq Farini, the Acting Director of the Khartoum State Security Authority, Major General Al-Waleed Bayoumi, and the Director of the Sudan Central Bank’s Omdurman branch, Haider Abbas.
The Director General of the Ministry of Social Development, Sadiq Farini, explained that the Savings Bank has long served as a financial outlet, having started its activities early on by distributing direct cash assistance provided by the Federal Ministry of Social Development through the Social Security Commission. He pointed out that the reopening of the bank’s branch will enhance support for the targeted social groups and help achieve its goals.
The minister stated that this inauguration signifies the restoration of stability in Omdurman and expressed hope for the return of all social institutions in alignment with the major advancements achieved through the “Dignity Battle.”
Governor Ahmed Othman Hamza emphasized that Khartoum State had been eagerly anticipating this step, as part of its encouragement for both public and private sector institutions to resume operations within Omdurman. He expressed hope that the bank would take positive steps to support war-affected citizens by providing them with financing to refurnish their homes and funding to establish income-generating projects.
The governor praised the bank’s efforts in distributing financial aid to poor families, which has contributed to stability among this vulnerable segment, a top priority in social support programs. He also commended the bank’s decision to offer microfinance, enabling citizens to open accounts and access financial services.
