Al-Burhan: We Have No Political Agendas in Humanitarian Affairs

On Monday, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, received a delegation from the Samaritan’s Purse organization in the United States, led by Pastor Franklin Graham. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Dr. Ali Youssef, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Lieutenant General Al-Sadiq Ismail Mahmoud, Chairman of the National Joint Committee for Humanitarian Emergencies.

At the beginning of the meeting, the delegation expressed its gratitude to the Chairman of the Sovereign Council and the Sudanese government for their well-coordinated efforts and facilitation in delivering humanitarian aid to those in need in South Kordofan.

General Al-Burhan conveyed the Sudanese government’s appreciation for the efforts of Samaritan’s Purse, which has been operating in Sudan for many years. He noted that its contributions extended to establishing hospitals in Gedaref and Hamashkoreb.

Lieutenant General Al-Sadiq Ismail Mahmoud, Chairman of the National Joint Committee for Humanitarian Emergencies, stated in a press release that the meeting was part of Sudan’s strategic vision regarding humanitarian aid. He emphasized that the Chairman of the Sovereign Council reaffirmed Sudan’s firm stance on addressing humanitarian needs without any political or media-driven agendas. He stressed that the country’s approach is based on providing assistance to Sudanese citizens without discrimination based on color, ethnicity, region, or religion.

For his part, Pastor Franklin Graham, CEO of Samaritan’s Purse in the United States, expressed his pleasure in visiting Sudan. He praised the Sudanese government’s efforts in facilitating the smooth flow of humanitarian aid to those in need. He highlighted that Samaritan’s Purse has been operating in Sudan for 30 years, offering services across the country. Graham added that the meeting discussed future activities and programs the organization could provide, particularly in the health sector. He also noted the fruitful cooperation between the organization and the Ministry of Health in delivering healthcare services.

Pastor Franklin further explained that the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and perspectives on humanitarian work. He expressed hope that Sudan would receive more support, especially during this critical period.

He also stated that he would convey his observations from this visit to American institutions so they could understand the humanitarian challenges Sudan faces. Additionally, he expressed his hope for restoring ties between the U.S. administration and the Sudanese government to serve the mutual interests of both nations.
