Sudan Events – Reports
Attorney General Moulana Al-Fateh Taifour emphasized that he will not allow injustice, as he himself was previously wronged by the Empowerment Removal Committee before being reinstated to his position by the court. He stated, “Anyone who exceeds their limits will be held accountable by law,” and described the “Prosecutors’ Club” as an illegitimate entity.
During an open discussion at “Journalism Nights”, organized by Gulnar Center for Press and Media Services at the Grand Hotel in Port Sudan, Taifour explained, “We have issued a public announcement for fugitive defendants, granting them ample time to surrender. If they fail to appear before the judiciary, they will be tried in absentia. We have no knowledge of the rumored arrest of the accused Yasser Arman in Kenya.”
The Attorney General added, “The fugitives are accused of committing war crimes, crimes against humanity, and ethnic cleansing, and we will not allow them to evade justice.”
Taifour pointed out that they are systematically collecting evidence related to acts of aggression committed by certain foreign states against Sudan, which are being submitted to the national committee. He also confirmed that criminal cases have been filed against members of the civil administrations linked to the rebellion and all individuals involved in militia crimes.
He stated, “The National Committee for Militia Crimes and Violations, chaired by the Minister of Justice, is fulfilling its duties in coordination with embassies and international institutions. We provide it with the necessary information.”
He continued, “We have a comprehensive plan to manage the crisis, and we are closely monitoring crimes and violations. The prosecution’s work has resumed in all areas successfully liberated and secured by the army.” He further emphasized, “We have instructed a swift and thorough investigation into suspects affiliated with militias and their collaborators, and those against whom sufficient evidence is found will be referred to trial according to the law.”
Regarding looted vehicles, Taifour revealed that there are over 39,000 reports of stolen cars, and Interpol has tracked 79 vehicles. Authorities are working with the rightful owners to recover them.
He reaffirmed that the Prosecutors’ Club is an illegitimate entity not registered with any official body and denied any internal conflicts within the prosecution. He declared, “We will not be lenient with prosecutors who sided with the rebellion. Legal action has been taken against them.”
Taifour also noted that some states have enacted laws imposing fees on prosecution services to cover operational costs, and his office is working with the Federal Ministry of Finance to review these measures. He added, “Low salaries are not an excuse for corruption. We all suffer, and those who cannot endure until conditions improve are free to resign and seek another profession.”
