Sawakin Executive Director Denies Reports of Expatriate Stabbing at Port

Sudan Events – Reports
Sawakin Locality Executive Director, Adel Adam, has denied circulating reports about the stabbing of a Sudanese expatriate at the port, stating that local police records do not contain any complaints or reports related to such an incident.
During a joint meeting with the Secretary-General of the Sudanese Expatriates Affairs Organization, Sayed Ahmed, discussions focused on security efforts and measures to address issues related to the lack of a standardized tariff for luggage transportation. The meeting highlighted ongoing arrangements to resolve this issue by placing a representative from the organization within the port and establishing designated commercial transport vehicles for expatriate belongings. These measures are expected to curb irregularities in the handling of luggage.
The delegation also listened to testimonies from expatriates who confirmed that operations within the port were running smoothly without obstacles.
Dr. Abdul Rahman Sayed Ahmed Zain Al-Abidin reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to enhancing its partnership with Suakin’s Prince Osman Digna Port administration to improve services for Sudanese expatriates.
During his visit to the port, the Secretary-General met with Captain Taha Ahmed Mohamed Mukhtar, the port director, where they discussed ways to improve services, particularly concerning the transport and handling of expatriate luggage.
Captain Mukhtar assured that all procedures at the port were running normally and without disruptions.
