Arrangements for Wheat Harvest in Gezira Scheme and Preparations for the New Agricultural Season

The administration of the Gezira Scheme is currently witnessing active coordination with the Ministries of Finance and Economic Planning, as well as Agriculture and Forestry in Port Sudan, to organize the harvest of winter crops, particularly wheat, and to prepare for the summer crop season for the 2025–2026 agricultural cycle.
During a meeting with Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Engineer Ibrahim Mustafa Ali, the Governor of the Gezira Scheme, discussed the requirements for the current winter season and the arrangements for the upcoming agricultural season, particularly irrigation challenges within the Scheme. The Minister of Finance pledged his support for the Gezira Scheme to help boost production.
Additionally, the governor met with the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bushra, who emphasized the importance of early preparations for the new agricultural season. He called for the immediate commencement of land preparation for summer crops, ensuring the availability of petroleum products, securing improved seeds for sorghum, cotton, and soybeans, and attracting modern technologies to enhance productivity.
