Announcement of Al-Jazeera State Budget for 2025

Mr. Atef Mohamed Ibrahim Abu Shouk, the Minister of Finance, Economy, and Manpower of Al-Jazeera State, announced the preparation of the state’s budget for 2025 to address emergencies and reconstruction, amounting to a total of 190.4 billion Sudanese pounds.
In a statement to (SUNA), the minister revealed that the water sector would be rehabilitated at a cost of 1.8 billion pounds through the introduction of solar energy in water sources and the maintenance of the main Madani station at a cost of 1.167 billion pounds. He also noted the allocation of a budget to rehabilitate the electricity sector, which was systematically destroyed by the rebel militia, and to cover emergency expenses since the liberation until now, amounting to a total of 1.181 billion pounds. He highlighted coordination with the federal government to allocate an emergency program to rehabilitate services and establish a fund for rebuilding Al-Jazeera, similar to other states affected by the war.
The minister announced the formation of a committee to review the state’s employee arrears from 2023 to the end of 2024. He confirmed that the state did not receive any federal grants or support under the 2024 budget. He pointed to the introduction of new revenue streams, the activation of crop market fees, the creation of new fees, and the mobilization of popular efforts to cover expenses for the war effort, shelters, food centers, security checkpoints, and the security cell.
The minister also addressed the efforts made by the state since January 2024, focusing on key priorities, including the restoration of government accounts and the financial system. He announced the state’s efforts to pay post-service benefits to retirees despite the suspension of the National Pension Fund.
