Start of Sorting Agricultural Road Projects of 149 km in Gedaref

On Monday, the Ministry of Finance and Labor in Gedaref State began sorting tenders for development projects in rural roads and culverts. Nine companies submitted bids for the projects, which were among those qualified in the state, with the presence of the directors-general of the Ministries of Finance, Infrastructure, Health, and Social Development, as well as the directors and agents of the companies. The projects include:

  • The Karadis Al-Hashib Al-Sabbagh agricultural road (40 km)
  • The Um Rakouba Madarak (16) Babakri agricultural road (50 km)
  • The Shashina Um Thawani Shaib Wad Yusuf road (37 km)
  • The Kalbi and Qarin road (8 km)
  • The Al-Laila Industrial Area road (14 km)
  • Construction of three culverts along the Meryoud track road.

Ms. Najat Ahmed Mohamed, the Director-General of the Ministry of Finance and Labor in Gedaref, confirmed that 2025 is the year of development in the state in line with the budget’s directives. She mentioned that the sorting of the road tenders today was for roads totaling 149 km, part of a broader plan to reach 300 km. She emphasized the importance of agricultural roads in connecting production areas to consumption sites.

Najat also highlighted the projects being carried out in the state from its own resources, such as the Sixty Road, seven culverts, and internal roads.

She commended the significant role of farmers in the state, appreciating their considerable contributions to supporting the state. These projects are funded through the state’s own resources in light of current circumstances.

Ms. Insaf Babiker, Director of the General Administration of Development, pointed out that these projects are the first step in the development of road infrastructure. She referred to the tendering process and the number of companies competing to implement the projects. She also mentioned the opening of envelopes in front of directors and agents of the companies to ensure transparency and neutrality, revealing plans to present more projects in the near future.
