Vollmatt, Stuttgart Striker, Dreams of Playing in the World Cup

Nick Vollmatt, the Stuttgart striker, hopes to join the German national team as he dreams of participating in next year’s World Cup finals. However, he remains content with his current place in the U-21 “Mannschaft” youth squad.
Vollmatt, 23, joined Stuttgart last summer from Werder Bremen. After a rocky start with the team, things have now turned around for him, as he has scored nine goals in the Bundesliga, including three in his last five matches.
He has been considered a potential call-up for the senior national team. Speaking to Sky TV, Vollmatt stated that “the 2026 World Cup is my goal” and emphasized that he will “give his all” to achieve it.
The German player added, “I am very grateful and proud of what I have achieved so far,” stressing that a call-up to the senior team “will come one day.”
Vollmatt also revealed that, for now, it might be better for him to remain with the U-21 squad, given the “great excitement” surrounding him lately.
Germany’s head coach, Julian Nagelsmann, commented that Vollmatt “certainly deserves” a place in the senior national team, which is set for an important quarter-final clash against Italy in the UEFA Nations League during the current international break.
