Von der Leyen: Europe Must Rearm Itself

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on Tuesday that Europe must rearm itself to achieve “credible deterrence” by 2030.

Speaking from Copenhagen, von der Leyen stated: “By 2030, Europe must have a strong European defense posture.”

She added that “being prepared for 2030 means rearming and developing the necessary capabilities for credible deterrence” and establishing a defense industrial base that constitutes “a strategic advantage.”
