He was accompanied by the Deputy Attorney General, Maulana Yasser Mohamed Ahmed, members of the National Investigation Committee, and several senior officials from the Public Prosecution.
Security Committee Meeting:
During his visit, the Attorney General held a briefing meeting with the Khartoum State Security Committee, attended by Ahmed Othman Hamza, the state’s governor. The meeting addressed the progress of criminal investigations, the challenges facing them, and the means to resolve these issues through coordination with the relevant authorities.
Visit to Police and Prosecution Headquarters:
Attorney General Taifour also visited the Khartoum State Police Headquarters, where he met with senior police and prosecution officials to discuss several key issues related to justice and law enforcement. This was part of ongoing coordination meetings between the justice and law enforcement agencies.
The Attorney General explained that the visit aimed to review legal procedures, refer filed cases to trial, and assess the conditions of detainees in prisons and other legal detention facilities. The goal is to identify obstacles and work to resolve them through continuous coordination.
Police Deployment:
Taifour noted that the state police have expanded their presence to cover new areas, including Greater Omdurman, and are currently operating in Bahri and East Nile. The prosecution is expected to reach these areas within the next two days, coinciding with the police deployment. Courts will follow shortly after, contributing to the enforcement of justice and the strengthening of the rule of law.
He confirmed that coordination is ongoing with the judiciary, represented by the Chief Justice and the heads of courts in various states. He emphasized the need for scientific thinking and appropriate solutions to address emerging challenges, especially the unprecedented crimes and violations committed during the war.
The Attorney General reassured citizens that the justice institutions, including the police, prosecution, and judiciary, are working diligently to uphold justice and reinforce the rule of law. He praised the role of the police and other security agencies, including intelligence services, in preventing crime, which eases the burden on the justice system.
Taifour stated that coordination meetings will continue at all levels, led by the Ministry of Interior, the police, the public prosecution, and the judiciary, to ensure justice and stability in the country.
