Delivery of Productive Projects for Girls and Women in Several Localities in Gedaref

The acting governor of Gedaref, Major General Mohamed Ahmed Hassan Ahmed, praised the efforts of the Ministry of Finance, represented by the Childhood Care Council in the state, during his speech at the ceremony held at the Childhood Care Council grounds today, where productive projects were delivered to girls and women in the targeted communities of Fashaga, the Eastern and Western Gabalat localities, and the rural areas of central Gedaref. These projects were provided by Plan Sudan under the slogan: “The Role of Girls in Economic and Social Development.”
The acting governor commended the efforts of the Childhood Care Council and Plan Sudan in implementing various programs and projects for the benefit of children and girls, stressing the state’s government’s support for the council’s programs in this regard.
The ceremony was attended by the Director-General of the Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Najat Ahmed Mohamed, the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Service in the state, Major General Dafa Allah Omar Sheikh, and a significant number of attendees.
The governor also praised the armed forces and their supporting forces for their continuous victories over the rebel forces in various fronts.
Mrs. Asia Abdelrahman Hussein, Secretary of the Childhood Care Council, clarified that a total of 100 projects were provided, with 25 projects allocated to each of the targeted localities in the state. She also pointed out the ongoing programs of the Childhood Care Council in training community leaders regarding the establishment of social protection networks. She added that the projects are part of a broader effort to combat harmful cultural norms and beliefs regarding girls.
Mr. Haider Hamdan Allah Abdelqader, Director of Plan Sudan, confirmed that the funding for these projects was provided by the Japan Country Office, and reiterated the organization’s commitment to continuing its programs and activities in partnership with the Childhood Care Council to promote community development and serve the targeted groups.
