Jibril Affirms Government’s Interest in Strengthening Strategic Cooperation with Iran

Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, affirmed the government’s interest in strengthening strategic cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and activating mechanisms for joint cooperation between the two countries.

He expressed this interest during his chairing of the preparatory meeting for the joint ministerial committee at the Ministry today, stressing the need for Iran’s participation in the reconstruction of what the war has destroyed. He proposed the preparation of agreements in agricultural research and encouraging joint investment.

In the meeting, attended by ministers and representatives of relevant ministries, the priorities for cooperation with Iran were agreed upon, focusing on preparing investment projects in agriculture, livestock, and manufacturing industries in line with Iran’s experience in these fields, as well as investing in the mining sector.

The meeting also agreed on commodity exchange and emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange and benefiting from the capacity-building opportunities provided by the Iranian side for advanced training for Sudanese cadres in agricultural research and livestock development.

Additionally, the importance of activating cooperation between the private sectors of both countries was emphasized, and plans were made for organizing a Sudanian-Iranian business forum with the participation of companies and businessmen from both countries during the proposed ministerial committee meeting in Tehran in the coming months.

It is worth noting that the ministerial committee is chaired by the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning from Sudan and the Minister of Agricultural Construction and Jihad from the Iranian side.
