Sudan Events – Agencies

Detailed information obtained by the “Al-Muhaqiq” news website from sources within the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Diplomatic Adjustment Committee revealed that the evaluation conducted among diplomats holding the rank of Minister Plenipotentiary led to the promotion of 47 of them to Ambassador rank, including 5 female diplomats.

According to the information, among those promoted to the rank of Ambassador are Minister Plenipotentiary Essam Al-Khidr, Deputy Head of Mission in Washington, and Minister Plenipotentiary Omar Al-Farooq Sid Kamel, Deputy Head of Mission in Cairo. The promotions also included Minister Plenipotentiaries Idris Mohamed Ali, Al-Bahi Mohamed Ibrahim, and Mohamed Osman Akasha.

The promotions included Minister Plenipotentiaries Iqbal Ishaq, Omima Al-Sharif, Maimouna Ahmed Khalid, Aida Sid Ahmed, and Awadiya Al-Manzoul. The sources confirmed that the Adjustment Committee will announce the rest of the promotions for lower diplomatic ranks after the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

The evaluation committee had recently released a promotion list for around 64 ambassadors at various ranks.

The “Al-Muhaqiq” news website indicates that several Minister Plenipotentiaries have remained at the same diplomatic rank for many years, often for more than a decade, without being promoted to Ambassador rank.

It is worth mentioning that the Foreign Minister had previously confirmed to “Al-Muhaqiq” that he prioritized internal restructuring and, upon taking office, formed committees to assess diplomats’ performance and carry out promotions with neutrality, integrity, and fairness.
