The U.S. State Department described the Sudanese Armed Forces’ recapture of the Republican Palace as a significant event.
In a press statement during the early hours of Saturday morning, State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce stated, “I believe much of the world should be watching this situation. It appears to be an important event. We are closely monitoring the situation and are aware of it.”
According to the U.S. State Department’s website, Bruce confirmed that the Sudanese Armed Forces had indeed reclaimed the presidential palace in Khartoum.
She added that the ongoing fighting in Khartoum highlights the severe consequences of the conflict for the Sudanese people and reiterated that the U.S. continues to urge the warring parties to cease hostilities and ensure the safe, unhindered movement of life-saving humanitarian aid.
