Standards Authority Inspects and Stamps One and a Half Tons of Gold in Nile River State

The Director of the Standards and Metrology Authority in Nile River State, Ahmed Sayed Ahmed Omar, revealed that the authority inspected and stamped one and a half tons of gold and locally produced gold items over the past six months.

Ahmed Sayed stated that the Precious Metals Stamping Department carries out regulatory oversight of precious metals in accordance with the Precious Metals and Gemstones Law, to determine the purity of gold and silver and to stamp local production of bullion and jewelry. He noted that the analysis process is conducted using X-ray fluorescence (XRF) devices and chemical methods, while stamping is done using laser and manual stamping devices.

The authority warned shop owners and gold dealers against displaying gold without the official stamp of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Authority, as violating this regulation could lead to legal action. It urged shop owners to avoid purchasing gold from workshops and distributors unless it bears the official stamp from the authority.
