Foreign Minister Receives German Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa

Yesterday, Minister Ambassador Dr. Ali Youssef received Mr. Heiko Nitschke, the German Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa.

The Minister welcomed the guest, expressing his hope that the Sudanese people will soon celebrate the liberation and recovery of Khartoum from the Rapid Support Forces militia.

The meeting addressed bilateral relations between the two countries, considering the formation of a new government in Germany, as well as the London Conference, which Britain has called for next month with Germany as a co-chair. The Minister expressed his objection to holding a conference on Sudan’s issues without consulting Sudan, as the primary stakeholder, while the United Arab Emirates — which is fueling the war — is allowed to participate.

The Minister explained that without the substantial and continuous support from the UAE, the war would not have erupted or persisted, as the UAE had believed it was merely a swift military coup that would enable Hemedti to seize power.
