Jamie Carragher, the former Liverpool defender, is baffled by Trent Alexander-Arnold’s uncertainty about his future at Anfield amid reports that the right-back is close to signing with Real Madrid this week.
Alexander-Arnold, 26, is set to become a free agent when his contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the current season — the same situation faced by Egyptian star Mohamed Salah and Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk. However, the England international has reportedly agreed to join the Spanish giants on a free transfer.
Born in Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold made his first-team debut at 18 and has since won the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, League Cup, FA Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup with the club.
