Initiating the Inventory and Assessment of the Ministry of Minerals and Geological Research Assets

The committee tasked with inventory and assessment of the headquarters of the Ministry of Minerals and the General Authority for Geological Research in Khartoum has begun evaluating the remaining assets following the liberation of Khartoum from the Rapid Support Forces militia.
The committee held an extensive meeting with Colonel Yahya Adam Mohammed Ibrahim, the director of mining police in Khartoum State, where they discussed coordination, the committee’s work plan, and the role of the police in securing the Ministry of Minerals’ assets and its affiliated bodies.
The committee assessed the scale of the systematic destruction that affected the ministry and conducted a comprehensive inspection of all buildings, including the minister’s office, the undersecretary’s office, the general director’s office of the Geological Research Authority, and the general and specialized departments at the headquarters of the authority and ministry. Key areas inspected included the library, laboratories, the information center, and the heritage collection, as the authority is considered one of the oldest geological institutions in the world.
Dr. Ahmed Mudawi Ezz El-Din, the head of the committee, along with the committee members, expressed their regret over the extent of the destruction and the loss of key geological maps, central scientific information, and references.
