Resolving the Issue of Gold from Rebel-Controlled Areas

Abd Al-Azim Jadallah, a member of the Goldsmiths’ Union, revealed that solutions have been reached for the issue of unregistered gold with the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company and government authorities in the states through which gold passes or is exported from certain areas in Darfur and Kordofan under rebel control.

He explained that an export office has been opened in the Daba area in the Northern State, confirming that all gold production is now exported officially under government supervision, represented by the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company and relevant authorities.

Jadallah stated, “After the relocation of activities from the Gold Building in Khartoum to Daba in the Northern State, agents faced difficulties in reaching the Northern State and other states due to the rebels’ ban on the export of crops and various resources from areas under their control.” He confirmed that solutions were found through coordination with the executive director of Daba locality, the director of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company in the state, and the Northern State government, particularly at the entry point in ‘Amtar.’

Jadallah further explained that they established a dedicated group to report goods arriving at Daba, noting that several solutions were reached through mutual understanding and joint coordination to ensure that gold reaches Atbara and then Port Sudan for export.

He expressed hope for an end to the war, the eradication of the rebellion, and the return of peace, security, and stability so that citizens can enjoy the wealth of their country.
