Does Not Break Through..!!

Al-Tahir Sati

:: After years of patience and endurance with the laziness and indifference of former Foreign Minister Ali Al-Sadiq, we were hopeful about Dr. Ali Youssef, given his extensive experience in this field. The man joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1973..!

:: However, since his appointment in November of last year, Ali Youssef has demonstrated nothing from his long years of experience except an addiction to the media and frequent meetings with the Egyptian Foreign Minister and the Secretary-General of the Arab League every three days..!

:: He is obsessed with the media, never declining an interview request from any TV channel, newspaper, or website. And if they don’t request him, he seeks them out. His Excellency is the only Foreign Minister in the world who engages in live phone and video call interviews like any ordinary reporter..!

:: He has stripped the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of its prestige with his endless chatter. The Ministry no longer has an official spokesperson because he has taken on the role himself—both officially and randomly. Yes, focus on this: under Ali Youssef, Sudan’s Foreign Ministry is the only one in the world without an official spokesperson..!

:: Our ambassador in London, Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Al-Amin, was the last official spokesperson for the ministry. He was balanced, articulate, and knew when to speak and when to remain silent. His position remains vacant, as does his approach, since the Minister took over the spokesperson role..!

:: I expected Ali Youssef to bring a clear vision that would change the performance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and enhance our country’s relations with neighboring states, regional powers, and decision-making centers. But my expectations and hopes were dashed—he has not made any breakthroughs..!

:: He waits for the successes of presidential diplomacy to comment on them like a political analyst. He does not take initiatives or break through opposing states—not even one. Instead, he is content with meeting the Secretary-General of the Arab League three times a month and appearing on Ahmed Taha’s program every three weeks..!

:: Even administrative procedures under his leadership are sluggish. For instance, at the beginning of Ramadan, the Minister of Information announced the appointment of journalists Mohammed Hamed Juma and Afraa Fath Al-Rahman to media posts in Cairo and Ethiopia to fill a media gap and establish communication channels with regional and international institutions..!

:: However, from the day of the announcement until today, the Foreign Ministry has not yet notified the embassies in Cairo and Addis Ababa of their appointments. There is no explanation for this delay other than bureaucratic inertia—or perhaps Ali Youssef wants to take on those positions himself as well..!
