The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Gibril Ibrahim, and the Governor of Northern State, Abdeen Awadallah Mohamed, inaugurated the wheat harvest today at the Abdallah Idris project in Angari, East Nile Administrative Unit.
Dr. Gibril Ibrahim stated to SUNA that the government places great importance on Northern State for wheat production.
He confirmed the government’s readiness to assist the state’s farmers in expanding agricultural areas.
He emphasized the need to transition to alternative energy sources to reduce production costs.
The Governor of Northern State described the project as a purely national investment and a model for large-scale projects.
He pointed out that Northern State achieved high wheat production despite failed militia attempts to disrupt the winter season by targeting power stations.
He urged the federal government to provide affordable alternative energy sources for farmers to reduce production costs and expand cultivated areas. He also stated that the state aims to ensure Sudan’s self-sufficiency in wheat seeds next year.
He highlighted the victories of the armed forces and their allied forces in the battlefields, as well as the liberation of Khartoum.
He affirmed the capability of the Sudanese Armed Forces, joint forces, security agencies, popular resistance, and mobilized personnel to cleanse Darfur, Kordofan, and all areas affected by the rebellion.
Meanwhile, the Director-General of the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources in Northern State, Engineer Othman Ahmed Othman, praised the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning for its substantial support for the winter agricultural season’s budget and its provision of ten generators for major agricultural projects in the state.
He added that his ministry aspires for this support to continue into the summer agricultural season, during which the state aims to cultivate 750,000 acres.
Additionally, as part of his visit to Northern State, Minister of Finance Dr. Gibril Ibrahim, accompanied by the Governor and his delegation, visited the wounded and injured from the Battle of Dignity at Dongola Military Hospital.
