Sudan Events – Reports
The General Intelligence Service has seized a counterfeit currency factory in Khartoum.
The factory contained more than 100 advanced printing machines, original currency paper looted by the terrorist and rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia from the Sudan Currency Printing Press, as well as large quantities of ink, money-counting machines, and financial receipts used to distribute funds to militia leaders for disbursement to soldiers and mercenaries.
According to the Intelligence Service, the factory served as the militia’s main center for producing counterfeit money to finance its operations during the war and to pay soldiers to boost their morale following the suspension of salary payments.
It further stated that large amounts of this counterfeit money were transported to militia-controlled states, particularly in Darfur, where it is still being used to pay mercenaries.
