Mintzlaff: Klopp Will Not Become Leipzig’s Coach

Oliver Mintzlaff, chairman of the supervisory board at RB Leipzig, has confirmed that Jürgen Klopp will not be the club’s new head coach.

Speaking to “Sky” on the sidelines of the German Cup semi-final against Stuttgart on Wednesday, Mintzlaff said: “I used to do this in the past, and no one wants to see that. So, I can completely rule this out.”

Klopp, who was present in the stadium to watch the match, became the Global Head of Football at Red Bull on January 1, after leaving his managerial role at Liverpool.

Klopp’s staff includes Zsolt Löw, who took over as Leipzig’s interim coach until the end of the season following Marco Rose’s departure. Löw is expected to return to his role alongside Klopp afterward.

Mintzlaff expressed his gratitude to Löw for stepping up: “A big thank you to Zsolt for agreeing to take charge, especially since he had other plans.”

He added: “We now expect him to give us a new boost – and he will – so that we can have a different energy on the pitch.”
