Minister of Culture and Information and government spokesperson Khalid Al-Aysar accused certain countries of providing the militia with anti-aircraft missiles to impose an aerial siege on El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State.
In a statement, Al-Aysar said that some countries were involved in recently supplying the militia with weapons and anti-aircraft missiles, in an attempt to turn the siege on El Fasher into both a ground and air blockade.
He noted that the government had airdropped food and medical aid to El Fasher and criticized the silence and inaction of the United Nations. He called on the UN to take serious and effective steps to stop these crimes against civilians and the obstruction of aid to El Fasher, emphasizing the importance of lifting the siege on civilians in accordance with international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2736, adopted on June 13, 2024.
