New Details on Power Outage
The Media Coordination Council of the Sudan Electricity Company announced that the Merowe Power Station was targeted by drones at dawn on Saturday.
In a statement, the council explained that the attack damaged the transformer supplying the Northern State, resulting in a power outage.
The statement pointed out that the repeated targeting of power stations negatively affects public services and, in this case, directly impacts the Northern State. The incident is expected to cause disruptions to the power grid, which could adversely affect electricity supplies in several states.
The Media Coordination Council confirmed that a full technical team is on-site to assess the damage and work on repairs to restore electricity to the affected areas as quickly as possible.
