United Nations: Destruction in Khartoum “Beyond Imagination”

A recent UN report revealed that the level of destruction in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, “is beyond imagination.”

Mohamed Rifaat, Head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) mission in Sudan, highlighted the catastrophic situation in Khartoum and emphasized the horrific conditions faced by civilians in the affected areas.
Speaking to journalists in Geneva on Friday, after a four-day visit to Khartoum and its suburbs, Rifaat mentioned that he visited areas that were previously inaccessible and saw firsthand the scale of destruction and suffering experienced by people in these areas.

He added, “I can tell you that electricity stations have been looted, and water pipes have been destroyed. I’m not talking about specific areas; I’m talking about everywhere I went. I’ve been to war zones in Libya, Yemen, and many other conflict regions. The level of destruction I saw in Bahri and Khartoum is unimaginable. It wasn’t just homes that were targeted, nor administrative areas, nor military zones, but all the basic infrastructure that could sustain people’s lives.”
