Deployment of Specialized Forces to Secure Embassies in Khartoum

The General Administration for the Security of Facilities and Premises has deployed specialized forces to secure embassies, diplomatic missions, and ambassadors’ residences in accordance with directives from the Police Command and the Authority for the Protection of Public Facilities and Institutions.

According to Police Major General and Head of the Public Facilities Security Authority, Al-Tahir Abdelhafiz, as reported by the “Police Press Office,” the move comes as part of the police leadership’s decisions to deploy forces to secure all vital facilities, sovereign buildings, and ministries following their liberation from the grip of terrorist militias. He added, “In coordination with the Khartoum State Police, a fully equipped specialized force from the Diplomatic Missions Security Police, led by the Director of the Administration, was deployed. They successfully took over and secured the buildings of the British Embassy and the Ambassador’s residence, the European Union headquarters, the Turkish Embassy, and the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development building—which had been under the control of the Armed Forces. Coordination was made with Military Intelligence to withdraw their forces. They also secured the Italian and Swedish embassies, the U.S. chargé d’affaires’ residence, and the embassies of Japan, Korea, Russia, Lebanon, France, Morocco, Ethiopia, and the Ethiopian ambassador’s residence.”

He continued, “Our forces have also secured the Ethiopian Embassy and ambassador’s residence, the South African, Chadian, Norwegian, Qatari, and Chinese embassies. Previously secured diplomatic missions in central Khartoum include the Egyptian Embassy, the Egyptian Consulate, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Egyptian Military Attaché’s building.”

He noted that in Bahri, specifically the Kafouri district, they have taken over and secured the Saudi ambassador’s residence and the embassy rest house, the German Embassy and ambassador’s residence, the Romanian Embassy and ambassador’s residence, and the residences of the French and Turkish ambassadors, as well as the residence of the Chadian secretary. He confirmed that the remaining embassies and consulates will be secured by Monday.
