The Director General of the Sudanese Seaports Authority, Gilani Mohamed Gilani, affirmed that the seaports are ready to reclaim their vital role in supporting the Sudanese economy.
Gilani revealed a significant decline in export and import activities through the ports due to the war, describing the drop as substantial compared to previous years.
In a press statement, the Director noted that in 2021, export volume reached 1.9 million tons, while imports amounted to 9 million tons. In contrast, by 2024, export volume fell to 1.3 million tons, and imports dropped to 5 million tons.
