Sudanese Customs: Electronic Payment a Major Step Toward Digital Transformation and Financial Inclusion

Lieutenant General Police Salah Ahmed Ibrahim Mohamed, Director General of the Customs Authority, affirmed that Customs is a key partner in the digital transformation and financial inclusion project led by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, noting that Customs was one of the first national institutions to implement this project on the ground in a short time.
He explained that electronic payment serves as a unified channel that brings together various government payment services through a single digital platform, contributing to smoother payment processes and offering a secure, fast, and accessible method for all.
He pointed out that the application of electronic payment in customs clearance procedures led to increased revenues, as it accelerated and simplified the process of collecting customs fees.
He also highlighted that the unified channel for collecting government fees represents a core that could evolve into a single payment point within the single-window system for foreign trade.
This progress comes as part of the state’s efforts to enhance transparency and efficiency in financial performance and to achieve digital transformation in government services, thereby improving the business environment and supporting the national economy.
