Sudanese reassurances to Egypt regarding militia control and securing the northern borders

Informed sources revealed to “Sudan Tribune” on Wednesday that Sudan has reassured Egypt about securing the northern state, which has been under continuous attacks for days from drones launched by the Rapid Support Forces militia.

The sources stated that the Sudanese army chief, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, conveyed reassurances to the Egyptian intelligence director, Hassan Mahmoud Rashad, who visited Port Sudan on Tuesday, regarding the security of the northern state and the borders.

The sources confirmed that the senior Egyptian security official expressed his country’s concerns about the escalating attacks on the neighboring state, affirming the support of Egypt’s security apparatuses to their Sudanese counterparts.

Rashad had discussed with the Chairman of the Sovereign Council ways to restore stability and work together to end the war in a manner that preserves Sudan’s safety and unity.

In another development, the same sources disclosed that a senior Sudanese security official made a short visit to a neighboring country last week to discuss the movements of the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – North within its borders.

The sources confirmed that the Sudanese security official delivered a message from Burhan to the president of that country regarding the relations between the two countries and this urgent matter.
