
Anti-smuggling authorities in Kassala State successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of the narcotic substance “Shashmendi,” seizing five large sacks that were en route into the country. Two suspects were apprehended in possession of the drugs aboard a transport vehicle. This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the anti-smuggling forces to protect society from harmful and dangerous threats to its security and well-being.
Lt. Gen. Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, Director General of the Customs Authority, praised the vigilance and professionalism of Kassala’s anti-smuggling personnel in executing their duties, emphasizing that such achievements reflect full commitment to the mission of safeguarding the nation’s economy and society.
Maj. Gen. (Legal) Jamal Al-Awad Al-Amin, Assistant Director General for Anti-Smuggling, also commended the significant efforts of his forces in Kassala State and their vital role in combating smuggling attempts. He lauded the fruitful cooperation with other security agencies in the state.
Col. Al-Bashir Issa Al-Bashir, Director of Anti-Smuggling in Kassala, praised the high morale and alertness of his team, expressing appreciation for their dedication and determination to protect the state’s borders from smuggling attempts.
Col. Saleh Idris Babiker, Director of the Information and Operations Department, stated that the seizure was the result of precise intelligence and tight coordination, with the suspicious vehicle being tracked and intercepted just in time. The five sacks of Shashmendi narcotic and the suspects were successfully apprehended.
According to media coverage by the Customs Authority, a delegation from the Kassala State government visited the scene of the operation and expressed pride in the heroic efforts, affirming their full support for the customs forces in their national duty.
